    I've always liked this type of bottle which I think are for seltzer or mineral water. Usually German I think. I have a few, a couple like yours, they have impressed marks from the bottling source. One even still has it's metal seal on the lid. Personally I'd strip off the paint but I don't know if it makes a difference as I don't think they're usually too valuable. Maybe an obscure source would help.
