Stoneware pot/vase - glazed inside - mark help?

Has a mark which appears to be ETL - also mold numbered 14/4 - and then another mark which I suspect to be the maker but I can't really make it out. In fact I don't even know which was is up - ha. I've attached it both ways Anyone know the maker? Any help is much appreciated.

I think this is correct - particularly since all the other numbers and letters are oriented that way.


Try a little cornstarch or baking powder.

Is there a book by Branner on marks?
If so I saw a reference to Etl pg. 318.

It could end in "craft", or it could be totally Vietnamese, or neither.

I'm wondering if instead of ETL it's actually E and the symbol for pi like E .

 

Bought it yesterday so definitely first post. Could be E"pi"...but the L looks pretty distinct in hand.

 

I just realized that you and I don't live all that far apart. Wouldn't it be funny if I saw this same piece or one by the same potter when out and about?

 

I was thinking I, too, have seen this mark recently. Maybe it was on another board a few days ago, or perhaps in a galaxy far, far away?

I work up in Reston...sometimes I hit up the goodwill in Herndon, but I got this piece in Woodbridge. Been down there recently?

 

LOL actually yes. I live in Fauquier County and used to volunteer at Mt Vernon. I would hit the Woodbridge thrifts regularly coming home but hadn't been as much recently.... However....I was in Woodbridge just last week hitting four.
