Storage Find,Medical /Science Item

    I got this item out of a storage.I asked a friend he said maybe a science piece.Measure from the top of the iron stem to bottom 20 1/2".The bottom appear to be some type of pottery ware,but cork like bottom,with a glass holder on the side.
