    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Could I please have a few quick thoughts on this pair? This is the only picture I have at present, unfortunately. I'm guessing Victorian and mahogany. I believe those are storks staring down the sides. They belong to a relative who believes they have been in his family since the 1920s. Thanks, friends.

I think those are cranes . Id say 1870s or so , maybe walnut . I think they are gorgeous .

They have a sort of proto-Eastlake look to me. Is this the detail?

Really not clear enough to tell, but if that's a beak doesn't it look more like a parrot beak to you? My guess would be Griffin or Phoenix.

From the photo, could go the other way and be some kind of bell flower looping over as a cap to that upright.

    They are nice.

Ok. I'm seeing it now. Don't know why I wasn't seeing it before. I would agree crane or heron. Either fits in with an aesthetic movement influence.

I would think heron instead of stork. Something about the way the feathers flip up on the back of the head.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Johnny, MOS, Abuela, thanks much!

Ay, ay, ay, Abuela, that feather-flip *IS* heron-y!

Aesthetic Movement. Will learn about that. Probably walnut. Maybe 1870s.

    Y'all rock.

Circa 1870 is about right but would call these renaissance revival in style. Neat chairs and I even don't hate the fabric.

GaleriaGila, you have changed !! :)

For a moment I thought she was back, then saw the thread is from 2016. @Ohiobornandbred are you related to our dear Gila?

 Well, it was worth a shot. Since she said the chairs belong to a relative. There are some people who are my relatives by marriage or adoption, who are not related genetically. Could have happened to Gila, too.
