<p>
I also have a pair of stork scissors in my hand sewing/embroidery kit. I got curious...why storks? <a href="https://www.caterpillarcrossstitch.com/blogs/blog/the-history-of-the-stork-scissors-for-cross-stitch#:~:text=Based%20on%20my%20research%20over,baby's%20umbilical%20cord%20after%20birth." target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://www.caterpillarcrossstitch.com/blogs/blog/the-history-of-the-stork-scissors-for-cross-stitch#:~:text=Based%20on%20my%20research%20over,baby's%20umbilical%20cord%20after%20birth." rel="nofollow">This blog</a> says it's because originally they were midwife clamps and storks bring babies. Then they evolved to scissors. The blog has a lot of lovely antique ones and also links to a Collectors Weekly post saying Germany started producing them after 1900. I found another, different pair of scissors marked Seco but also specifying Solingen, which is a blade making town in Germany that's made blades for hundreds of years. A good pedigree for little scissors to have. <img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/biggrin.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":D" unselectable="on" />
</p><p><br /></p>
