What is the purpose of such a product? Metal, bronze or brass. The drawings are covered with enamel. The size is 110х41 mm. On the spring. IMG_20181012_161805.jpg IMG_20181012_161822.jpg IMG_20181012_161902.jpg IMG_20181012_161957.jpg IMG_20181012_162023.jpg

I have seen many that are clearly souvenirs of Greece, having more readily recognizable Greek images on them & the name of one Greek location or another written on them, in Greek. This one may be a souvenir of Knossos, Crete. (The Minotaur, the labyrinth...) It is for keeping papers/correspondence clipped together on a desk.

Yup, saw these in lots of tourist shops on Crete. Which is a lovely place.

Probably it is impossible to determine when and where this clip was made?

When is tricky, could be anytime from, oh, the 70s to yesterday. It might have been made in Greece, but many of these souvenirs are now made in China.

Does anybody know if the coloring is ever different? And or the actual picture? I have found one I uncovered from the earth but unfortunately I have yet to find 1 that matches exactly. Just curious as to if this could be used to pin point the when and where the item came from. And if anybody knows if there was a variety of different pins for CNOSSOS VS. CRETE. Thanks in advance

We made several trips to Greece. We have two bottle openers - a man and woman in traditional Greek dress - several other items. These clips I took to be paper clips for offices - not like you think of paper clips, but to hold a group of papers on a desk. Mostly for show. I have this hanging in my kitchen. As you can see, I made the wall paint "distressed" to match. IMG_0092.jpg

I have one of these, with the same images.
I always assumed it was a stationary clip.

:p:wacky::wideyed: Haha, no! As in paper for letter writing! You remember letters, don't you? The mail man used to bring them. They came from your pen pal. Fun with homonyms!!!
