    Hi all,

I've come across some interesting hallmarks on the back (outside) of a ring. The ring came into my family in the 60s and holds a gold Mexican coin - although unsure of it's origin and date (the coins date is probably on the under, fixed, side).

Does anybody know what these hallmarks could be? I'm unsure whether they are badly struck or worn or where they originate from. Any insight is much appreciate!

Says Estados Unidos (de?) Mexico ?

The 2 stamps in your first picture are not Mexican metal marks or hallmarks that I recognize.

Is this a family piece? I was born in Venezuela so I have a gold Venezuelan coin on my bracelet. if a family piece , is there anyone from Mexico in the family tree that may have had a ring made else where?

Has any ever seen a ring marked on the outside of band? Could it be an import/duty/assay mark put on after manufacture and they didn’t have the ability or care to stamp inside the ring?

Well, we know it was made outside the US, so other location may have different protocol.

The USSR used to put marks on the outside of rings, but these are not Soviet marks, as nearly as I can make out.

A lot of countries marked or still mark on the outside. Since it is a Mexican coin, the ring could be Mexican.;)

Maybe try getting more pics of the mark on right side? Different angles without as much glare. Maybe under a loupe. Your photo is good but the glare is a bit muddying.
