Featured Striking necklace but what is it made of?

    I've seen clasps like that on Pre-Columbian jewelry. Could the necklace be Tairona or a reproduction?

    What an interesting idea! I googled 'tairona pre columbian necklace' and can see similarities. Thanks Julie, I'll keep on digging...!

    You've got a point there with the Tairona style of the beads.
    Pre-Columbian necklaces are often restored because many are still very wearable. The restorer is usually a designer who uses new or vintage clasps that are easy to use, but not in keeping with the origin of the piece.
