This is an interesting 1994 art glass vessel/vase, the ribbed body having applied rubber 'prunts' along with the mouth; the base is slabs of cane work. Really interesting piece. The signature looks like ME? WE? URE? I can not find any studio glass with applied rubber. VERY HEAVY! Approx. 6.25 inches in height. Thanks for any assistance!

Yes! I couldn't believe it. I thought possibly enamel until I touched them. I should add the black mouth is glass but those prunts around the mouth are rubber.

I also have tried searching using silicone instead of rubber.

If Hershey's Kisses came in licorice flavor, this is what they would look like. ;)

I guess the prunts would have been subject to breakage. Problem solved.

I think I have found the artist and it is Mark Eckstrand - which would make sense that the signature looks like ME - plus he does amazing cane work and is a very highly respected sculptural glass artist who focuses on creating amazing sea life out of glass (also makes sense since this looks like an urchin. I am reaching out him to see if he can confirm or deny. Will update as soon as I know.

I'm wondering if the rubber pieces were added afterwards.
