Featured Taxco Mexico brooch date and style

Not something I come across very often and I think this is Taxco only from what I’ve read on here.
Google is somewhat vague about makers and no help at all with the dating letter.
How would I describe this shape and style please?
Marked Mexico 925 in the centre and TS 925, then a triangle and date letter u.
Any help please?

Sorry I've just realised the triangle is a Birmingham import mark so ignore that part of the question! 1994

Nice, K. There is nothing to say it is Taxco though. The maker's mark is TS, it is not a post 1980 Taxco mark. Hougart has TS in a list of maker's marks, but no id.

 

Ah, I thought that's what the T stood for, see I'm clueless about this stuff .
How would you describe it as I'm a bit short of key words now?.

Sorry M, one more possibly dim question. Just out of interest, presuming it was imported as we see it now and the hallmark was stamped when it arrived in the U.K., how has it got a makers mark on it? Or is the TS likely to be the importers mark not a makers mark?

 

And also, I've just tested the stone and it's not glass. Mary Contrary says Aquamarine,Iolite, Nephrite or Tanzanite but we know how unreliable she is with semi precious gems and none of those seem likely!. That's with the blue filter on so dyed something?

 

No clue here but love it. Almost Modern meets Goth meets Coptic. Gives me Spratling vibes but it definitely isn’t. Curious what the stone is. I would have guessed glass with that color.

 

Chalcedony probably. That's what it looks like.

 

Apatite is another possibility. Kyanite seems less likely.

 

So would I. It was only because AJ questioned it that I checked. I've been through my gemstone book and can't find anything that colour so it's anyone's guess. Random rock!.

 

I've seen this color before on dyed "jade" and chalcedony; it's always dye. Random Dyed Rock is about the size of it.

Not dim, it makes sense.
Only the import and year marks and one fineness mark were stamped when it was imported. The Mexico mark, the other fineness mark, and the maker's mark were stamped in Mexico.

I have never seen anything with that many marks! Weird but a cool piece.
