    Oh my gosh thanks for all the giggles!

    In my rather, oh so serious way, I can't help but notice the similarity in your mark and a Williamson mark. I'm not suggesting it is one, just similar. If no one has browsed through US maker marks yet I might pull out a few books.

    The fact that it says "English" rather than England makes one wonder where it was made doesn't it?

    It's possible that English is a design name given those twee cottages. That Williamsons mark is certainly very like.

    If someone wants to forward this teacup photo and the mark to The Potteries, I have no objection. I tried to myself, but it requires me to create an account - I don't even know where - and I'm not going to do that.

    I guess he's being suitably cautious, but I'm satisfied with the ID reached here. Since the mark doesn't include the company name, finding a cup and saucer of the same size and design by that manufacturer, although with a different transfer, is as close to confirmation as anyone is likely to get.
