Look to be oil on canvasboard? If so, I would find matching frames and ditch the mat.

    I agree....they don't need to be matted.

Have you decided to not consign them to an art auction?

I think an auction house is the best choice for these. Just deciding on the right one is tasking. Ill be contacting several in the next few days.

I was going to order some Brumbacher. will this bring back the shine to the surface that is lacking?

I'm happy to hear that...rather than selling them on your own.

I also contacted another auction site....can't remember which one now.

As I recall, I thought I was contacting one in Texas, but actually they were based in NY.

I remember that he offered to fly someone to Massachusetts to pick up the painting....even tho he gave me a very low estimate.......can't remember what now, but perhaps around $3,000.

I know he was going by a photo via the internet, but I thought who the heck is going to fly someone for that small amount.

    That's when I decided to contact Skinner's.

Yes, most art supply stores have it in stock.

Yes, it is a Mollie Crowther. I am one of her great-nieces and she was one of my mother's favorite aunts, so I have 6 of her paintings, including some very similar to these. I think that, rather than older photos, they might be some at the beginning of her career. However, both theories are possible!

I just found this post again!

    Thank you SBSVC!
And thank you to Judy and to LibraryLady.

I hope your paintings brought the estimate at auction. Mike, thanks for letting us know the outcome.

As for my own painting, after the movie deal, as a favor, they shipped my painting across the country to my brother's home to live!

    Happy Endings!

Yeah. I painted that for my father, he was from Texas, it hung above his piano, which my brother played. Nowadays, same brother has 2 grand pianos in his living room, and he said my painting will fit right in! :cat::singing:
