I was just reading about the armed French gangs in Paris in the late 19th & early 20th Century. While not a Military Unit at all, this is the only Forum I could find for Weaponry-and of course it does bear a slight resemblance to a WWI Brass Knuckle Trench Knife.
PS-Monet & Lautrec were around,Absinthe & Opium were still legal.

Perhaps no other gun on this list overpromises and underperforms like the Apache pistol. This pistol appears to combine the effective ingredients of a knife, brass knuckles, and a small-caliber revolver into a neat, foldout package.

In practice, none of the three components of the weapon deliver.

The brass-knuckle component works well enough, but the knife is thin and flimsy on its hinge. The revolver, with virtually no barrel to speak of, is terribly underpowered and inaccurate.

Additionally, because of the unguarded trigger, the user is likely to accidentally fire the weapon often.

    Country: United States

    Entered service: 1880

    Type: Personal defense

    Range: Close combat

I would think that even as a functional firearm it's still a fantasy item. If you wanted to use the brass knuckles, the rest of the gun (especially the trigger) would just get in the way, and it looks like you need a screwdriver to put the knife blade into action. It does look nasty.

Still would like to find one at Granny's Garage Sale-one of the most stupid expensive guns ever made. That could be a new Category-'Stupid Guns'.
Mostly it costs $$$ because of the cool Steampunk goofiness.
PS-Don't have one, donations gladly accepted.

It looks like a 1900's French 'Zip Gun' & accurate from about 6 inches (maybe). Actually this is the 7 mm Lefaucheux Revolver I'd like to have-Confederate Civil War w/a Shotgun Barrel underneath.

Isn't it wonderful the amount of ingenuity people apply to killing each other. In a museum, I once saw a gun that fired round bullets for when you were fighting Christians, and square ones for Saracens.
