The other two purchases, one Ebay, one FB. The brooches were one lot and I think I was right. The landscape one is a nice reverse painted one, Essex Crystal type.Thomas Le Mott signature. Well worth the price I paid for all of them together, which wasn't much.

The flag thing is just weird. I've been chatting to the seller for a while, she picks my brains or what's left of them. Neither of us has a clue on why this flag combo.

 

Looks like it was for a specific meeting, a jamboree (scouting) maybe?

Are the two pins a variation on the clips on cardigan clips?

 

Cardigan clips is a thought. I've got a couple of the ones in that illustration. or maybe these were meant to go sort of across a tie knot, if that makes sense? They're almost random country flags.

 

Could be. The pins would be hidden underneath the collar, or would they be pinned to the collar?

 

I'd speculate pinned to the collar points, so that the pennants showed, hm?

OBB, sometime in the 1960s my very favorite aunt brought me back a bracelet a lot like your flag piece. I think it was enamel on brass and represented the flags of Curacao and other islands in the area. I believe it is still around here someplace. If I find it I'll get a picture for you.

 

Ok, to hide my shameless lack of knowledge of flags of the world and my laziness to google as I haven’t finished coffee, which countries of the world are we trying to find a link between?

 

The countries are Italy on the green red and white pennant, then France, Bulgaria, Sweden, Romania, something else I can't work out, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands and Czechoslovakia.

 

Looks like an upside down Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia in a drunken stupor?

Yes, that's what I meant. I can't think of any European country that used to have a flag like that.
