I've seen a lot of these things in glass and silver. I think this is the first time I've seen them ENTIRELY in silver...

How wide is it, how tall is it, and how "thick" is it?

My only "guesses" at this time would be for emery boards, metal nail file, "orange sticks" i.e., cuticle pushers, small (cuticle) scissors?????

    P.S. It's a lovely set, Shangas. ;)

Well phooey -- probably not tall (deep) enough for the items I listed. ;)

    Cotton wool?
    Lovely set, Shangas.
I notice you didn't mention the marks. I can see a London leopard's head, but the rest is not very clear. Please enlighten us.;)

I wonder what the entire travelling set looked like. Interesting that the embossing is emulating shagreen.

Hallmarks are for London, 1902. I suspect that these are surviving pieces from what would've been an EXTREMELY expensive gentleman's toiletry-case from the early Edwardian era.

Agreed, the case must have been fabulous. I wonder if your thingy had glass bottles.

Maybe with silver lids, or even silver encased glass bottles?
We may never know, unless we find a similar set. A lovely set as it is.

The original outfit would've looked something like this:

Lots of silver and glass, everything organised and compartmentalised etc. But cases like these were built for another age. By the end of the 40s they were disappearing.

That is what a travel vanity set looks like. I have one in a red leather case which used to belong to my grandmother. It even has a matching hat box.

But we were wondering about this specific set. It could have been custom made without glass, brushes, etc. And it may not have been in a case.
