Would be an odd lamp with one flat side to the base. Maybe converted to one at some point. Not sure the top piece really goes since there is a difference in coloration. Also appears to have holes for prism attachment but they would have no where to hang.

I noticed that & wondered too. Maybe the base, which is different from the much thinner one on the specimen INH found, has been swapped out? The other thing I noticed is that the central wiring tube (is there a word for that part?) does not clear the base by very much at all at either end & OP mentions it all begins to come apart if the finial is removed. Piece is obviously rejiggered into something strictly decorative, and I think this part is now taller than it was originally.

You're on fire. Have to be same maker but aren't quite the same. The heads of the swan neck handles on this pair are detached. The shape of these seems more squat than journey's piece, although maybe there's some distortion in the photos? Disagreement whether spelter or bronze.

The gilding brings out some details I hadn't spotted. And of course the second vase has a different set of figures. I have a pretty MOP handled desk seal with a glass paste replica of an intaglio with the couple pledging their troth.

There was a cameo engraver who became a lighting fixture designer, Louis Zoellner, who came from Europe and set up shop in Brooklyn.

Wonder how many are out there & whether prices being set on them are anything like realistic.

Many differences, but the similarity of the swans' heads makes me think could be same maker:

    UNBELIEVABLE! !
That's why I love this site!
I' going to read the links now, but I'm pretty sure it's bronze not spelter - is there a way to test; like with a magnet or something?
I need help & everybody(!), I am truly grateful for the help - thank you guys (and ladies too!; "guys" is a metrosexual term! (is that the right word for the sentence/context?)

If I turn the very top piece - finial? - it tightens everything up. Should I unscrew it to see if/what pieces are joined? (I didn't go far at all first time; as soon as I saw things loosening up I tightened it back down - maybe not all of it comes apart?

Bronwen led the Charge, I just followed. I don’t know how to take apart, or test for bronze. Hope it goes well!

My guess is that the top piece holds the hollow rod upright. Might be difficult to reattach.

Hmmm. These are a couple of details from journey's piece compared with the pair of urns INH found. The animal is particularly interesting. A hound would be appropriate accompanying the goddess Diana, & most of the time it's safe to assume that's who a woman holding a bow is. On the other hand, a goat fits in with a sacrifice scene. I know what I make of the differences. Curious what others will say without my influencing them.

They both seem to have hooves?

Yes, in part, although the washer & nut on the bottom are also steadying it. Journey, if you decide to disassemble it, suggest you make sure the nut doesn't come unscrewed when you take off the finial or you may trouble holding all the sections together to screw it all back without help.

I’m wondering if that golden part directly on top of Journeys doesn’t belong at all, then maybe flip the other piece around and reverse the finial. It might look like the last urn Bronwen posted.
