Featured THRIFT STORE PAINTING - IS THIS L BASILE, LEON JEAN BASILE?!

I found this today at a local thrift store - I thought it was a print on board/cardboard until I looked with a loupe - it's a painting!

Please tell me this is by Leon Jean Basile? And what it the board it's on?

I think its "after" Leon Basile,a copy if you will,but a charming one.Looking at his work,the quality in yours just isnt the same.

No, it doesn't approach the quality of León Basile Perrault's work. Just compare the feet on a genuine Perrault with the feet on your painting. (And it's unlikely that Perrault would paint a subject reading an Italian newspaper.) It may be a copy of something but the workmanship is modern (as is the hardboard). I would think a 1970s work of the urchin school.

Can anybody help me in understanding of what I have in my possession?
It's an antique piece of artwork, a small patch of original papyrus (PAPIRO ORIGINALE - SIRACUSA- ) showing a sketch in green signed L. Basile .
And a title reads PAPIRO ORIGINALE - SIRACUSA- . The artwork is framed, and under glass.

The dimensions of the papyrus patch is 5¾″ x 4¾″ . The frame is 9 5/8″ x 8 7/8″ [24.5 x 22.5 cm].

It appears to me to be of the 19th century.
