    Hi all,

Another piece I found at the same location a couple years ago, and have always been curious about. I think it is pretty funky!

Would anybody venture a guess as to the time period on this pendant? Does it fit into any particular style?
It has absolutely no marking on it....I kind of feel like someone made it at home ;-)
I am pretty certain that it is gold.
I have worn it non stop for a couple years and have not noticed any kind of wear.
The body of it has a rough "brushed" appearance , and the inside is black

Erin, that style is broadly called Brutalist. Here's a quickly-found definition from the internet. I would think it was 1970s at the earliest but could, of course, be later. I can see why it appealed to you. Did you check carefully for marks?

"The term Brutalism originally applied to a type of roughly finished, monolithic architecture originating in the mid 20th century, but has since been applied to jewelry as well. This radical style of jewelry is typified by massive, jagged and highly abstract designs that are at once intriguing and perhaps slightly disquieting."

Thank you - this information is amazing.
I did look carefully, and unless it is somewhere inside, there is no mark.
I do agree about the chain btw...I am just so rough on things and do not take my jewelry off, so wanted something sturdy lol. I even manage to break box chains!

Are you going to have the metal and stones tested?

    Nice piece...maybe 1950's......but that's a guess.

Box chains...hate em....they break or dig into the pendants over time......

    Hi Debora,
Sorry for the delay - I had them tested today! Jeweler confirmed that the piece is gold (not specific on more than that) and that the diamond is genuine. she did not have the ruby testing solution available but her opinion is that it is real as well.

Well, isn't that wonderful news? You liked it before and now I suspect you like it a little bit more!
