Agree! That's often the way, unless an item is truly very, very valuable. In that case the bidding is full-on.

‘very true. One of the reasons I actually waited till hours before the auction. My bad totally for messing up the dates.

Sometimes I have posted in here and 20 minutes later have seen it in search engines. That’s not even counting the lurkers :jimlad:

I’ll let this one go(but I will watch ;)). There is always another great find down the road.

I trying to get alot more items to auction. So Iam not posting all finds. The things I buy ‘for auction’ and I can research myself I don’t post. The problem is Iam still keeping to many items.

I'm not to sure members on here would bid on your find but many times I've wanted to ask a question on here about an item before the end of a auction and haven't for the very reason of "search image with Google" If I, or members were to post pictures of the item anyone else looking at the same item would see the image and what was said about the item on here, thus letting the cat out of the bag.

Anything you don't want non-members to see? Post it on 'General Discussion'. If you feel you won't get the right eyes on your item in GD, tag them.:)

    Total: 626 (members: 14, guests: 428, robots: 184) online NOW !

just sayin....... I look at these numbers often, just to see the activity here.

What u see above is more or less..... depending on day and time of day , a reasonable account of who's doing what.......

There just are not enuf members looking at what you post here to have any effect on any auction....
Guests, on the other hand .... may be using us as a source .... but the site is so varied they can't all be checking us out all the time just to see who's looking at what auctions.
Bots, don't bid on auctions......but they do grab images , which can lead back here for someone to see that chatter about a specific item....... if posted in an open Forum.
Still...... any online auction better be getting more than 442 folks looking at their site........ or they are not going to be around for long.

    Just sayin.....

I don't remember if this happened here or on the ebay forum. Early on, I posted a farm picture of a giant pig being butchered that I own. It somehow found its way as a reproduced image in an old frame at a market out East. It was bought by someone who, then, brought it to the forum for comment. I could tell it was taken from my image due to unique damage characteristics of my photograph. Never post anything you don't want to get out. The general discussion area provides quite a bit of protection but even other members could do something you might not appreciate.

True enuf Brad.......but......of the 14 members who were online when I posted...... I know who they all are........ and none of them are likely to screw around with anyone else here...

As stated earlier, I didn’t actually want to not did I post it until the 11th hour as I knew most of this could happen but in this case I truly wanted some better opinions than my own before pulling the trigger. I just messed up the date of the auction. No big deal at this point. Thanks to all for comments. I have pure respect for the constant members and their opinions.

in general I am pass this, but it is good to get it out in the open for discussions so others might guide themselves accordingly.

I always see photos/links in Google images to Antiquers when searching for items that have already been posted on here.
I don't know if that's because they are rare or I'm a member and I visit here a lot?

I have started setting the alarm on my phone to remind myself about an auction. I actually set 2 different times. The first about 20 to 30 minutes before the end & then 3 to 4 minutes before the end.

It's 99.8% certain to be Chinese and wasn't very valuable so best you passed or lost the auction. But I can understand how nerve racking FOMO is.
