Hi all now it was a tough decision today when u saw these pill boxes for 4 dollars each. Marked 800 or 925.
I reckon the ornate ones are european mid 20th they are all marked 800 except one. The other is marked 925 and has a stone on the top. Maybe same age. Was hoping someone could confirm. I would clarify 92.5 not 925. Only because it may make a difference to those looking for it. Silver content would be the same.

you can't do anything wrong for four dollars only. to see if they are older we need clear pics of the individual stamps. helps also when you list them - I once had one from northern Germany, where I couldn't find any info on the silversmith; listed it for 20 € and got a whopping 135 for it.

Can you show a close up of these marks? Are they hallmarks?

This mango shape and the flowers make me think India for the serie:)
The one with the stone and applied beads and wires may be Bali made.
@Any Jewelry will know, I'm sure :joyful:

    A very pretty lot, Chris.
I agree, the mango shape looks Indian, but an 800 mark on Indian silver is a bit puzzling. It would be good to know which mark goes with which box.
I think the stone topped one is from India. There are similarities between some Indian and some Balinese silver.

this 800 in this script without frame was used in Italy - if I remember correctly - for small items that didn't need individual silversmith marks.

I was thinking of Italy too, but other countries used simply 800 as well.
Italy used 800 without an oval cartouche until 1934, when the oval cartouche was introduced along with other marks. But Italy is notoriously sloppy with marking.
Although Italy has had an interest in things Oriental and North African for centuries, these boxes don't strike me as Italian.

But we really need to know which mark goes with which box.

    First 3 have 800 stamp.
The fourth round has 800 stamp in oval
The last with stone has 92.5 stamp

I agree with @kyratango in India. I've had wee boxes that shape with Indian marks.

I'm still feeling uneasy about those 800 marks. the second box from right with these heartshaped blossoms looks a bit scandinavian.
