I heard the term used for both, although I'm more likely to identify "a davenport" as a desk first and sofa second unless there's a picture. However, "THE davenport" to me meant sofa. Go figure.

This was Douai-Rheims, translated from the Latin Vulgate. Although I have multiple translations & a Vulgate on my bookshelves, I often cite D-R because in my historical field (Medieval/Renaissance) the Vulgate was the "official" Bible. (The Latin Vulgate website with the Douai-Rheims translation is also handy online.) I grew up with KJV and Revised Standard Version. (My copy was an award for choir attendance although I was forbidden to sing because I could not carry a tune.)

(LOL) Meanwhile I'm primarily harmony/alto but have been known to cover a tenor part if there was a hole. Full soprano harmonies too if I feel like graying out a bit.

I think I do have a Vulgate copy here somewhere, but it's in Portuguese. Can't read that for beans. I've been known to look stuff up in assorted translations and languages on Biblegateway.com and I think they have the Vulgate in the original Latin.

For what it's worth, could this be the departure print?

I don't know who Garnier was, but the publisher was Gupil and Vibert. They published at least three Rebecca prints: Departure, Arrival, and At The Well. I really can't tell, but it is another engraving after Schopin.
