From my latest box of random goodies!
A sweet little ring with lovely sentiment although not so much skill :)
    Is this likely WW1?
I’m slightly intrigued by the blackened metal?
    The inlay is silver.
    Thanks for looking :)

No idea. Take a magnet to it and see if it sticks?

@Bear - Indian? Looks cruder than the usual, unless it was some lovesick and homesick soldier trying his hand.

There you go. I've seen some Bidri which isn't as fine as others, and I think this is one.

Do you think this has some age or modern?

Basically it is pot metal... 1 part copper 16 parts zinc.

It's silver inlay in the alloy. Really tricky to age them, but I suspect it isn't modern.

Age is difficult, because they are still making them. I suspect the heart shape was first made for export, probably late 60s - 80s.

Here are some more Bidri rings, including a heart:

Price in India 275 Rupees, with the current low pound that is ca GBP 3.06. Knowing savvy you, you probably paid less, so you'll make a profit.:joyful::kiss:

Unless she bought for the "what the heck is it". I've overpaid for mystery pieces myself, because the puzzle was worth as much as the item was. More in some cases.

    This ^^
The puzzle is what drives me. I walk past trays of beautiful Jewellery that I appreciate but don’t interest me. There is way more interesting stuff to be found in the box of bits left by the dealer when he thinks he’s pulled out all the good bits!
Without a doubt I’ve overpaid for some pieces (this was £1 so sleep easy) but it’s been countered by the gems I’ve found. I think of it as paying for an education as well as the actual item. You win some and lose some.
Also, researching pieces of jewellery with the immense support and knowledge of the community on here has given me a distraction from some very difficult times in the last few years with my husbands ill health.
For me it’s not all about the ring.

Education is worth paying for. In fact it is priceless.
