Trivet I'm curious about

    Have what appears to be an adjustable trivet. A few pictures and some markings I found. Not 100% sure what it is.

    Is the trivet flat? It's a very unusual trivet. I've never seen one with that rolled edge. I don't know what else it could be. I have a couple of flat trivets that expand in that same way.

    I wouldn't call it a trivet, but it is definitely intended to hold a hot dish up off the surface of the dinner table. Mom and my grandmothers all had things of this sort - size is adjustable to accommodate different lengths of serving pieces. This one is newer than theirs - 50s-80s?
