Well, I would say it depends on what you define as "attractive", your chest that started this thread is literally beat to death! the condition is very poor so $10-$20 would be fair I think.
Most people I know that are looking to make a furniture purchase decision, they want pieces that can be placed in their home RIGHT NOW! :) They are absolutely not interested in "projects", I.E. pieces that need work. In my world, your chest is a small step away from junk at best, something at a garage sale perhaps or put out on the curb for a free pick up.:sorry:
A quicky search at LiveAutioneers on recently sold blanket chests

I have absolutely zero thought that there is no market for this type of furniture. Particularly early American examples being sold at auction. The point I made was the low end of the market on sites like Craigslist, FB marketplace, and other local sales apps. Stuff that is selling to people that aren’t in tune with the antique market, people that aren’t making a ton of money necessarily, wouldn’t be able to tell you if a trunk was made in mid 1700’s PA or 1850’s China. Just people looking for inexpensive used furniture or storage online. The worlds we are speaking of are very different. The chest in this thread isn’t one that I would call attractive to this market. It’s one I was personally interested in learning about.

Edit: In a funny twist the person selling the chest that began the thread must have found out what it was. They clearly searched results for Swat chests and found crazy numbers for nicer pieces on high end antique sites. They are now asking like 3k or so.
