I'm new to this forum so let's see if I manage to post correctly. Can anyone help me identify the clockmaker and approximate year of manufacture of this French carriage clock. Will appreciate any assistance

If I remember rightly, things didn't have to start being stamped with country-of-origin until the 1890s, so I'd say this is turn of the last century. Somewhere between 1895 - 1910.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

AND I don't know if this refers to a Maker or not.....even if it does, it appears double stamped ON THE RIGHT....someone with the knowledge might just recognize it though anyway!!

shows that it's from a time the French started to realize that there were people - somewhere outside of France and Quebec - that spoke some other language...

I've talked to the French...in Lyons.....& they didn't think that what was spoken in Quebec..... was French !:hilarious:

I totally agree. I had the doubtful pleasure of being sent to Paris for a kick-off-meeting for a technical project with a handful of Germans, one Swiss, some English/Scottish, some three or four Quebecois and some French for the leading company.
the Director of the French company ordered to switch to English although everybody spoke excellent French after a few minutes ...

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Can you tell (or guess) what it says under that? It is partly covered by a piece of metal.

It doesn't say anything. That's the scale for the regulator needle.
