wondering if anyone can give an age (approx of course) for these two bronze Buddha? figurines. This one has hard sand? inside the bottom, hard to tell from photo. It is 8" tall. THANK YOU!

This one sounds like something shaking around inside, so apparently hollow, it is 7" tall.

    toomanytocount Boredom is a sin.

It's too bad, looks like these were polished at some point, and they lost their dark brown patina. Hard to say about age, as many of these statues were produced and exported all over the world, for most of the 20th century.
I will leave someone with more Asian bronze experience have their say. I do think they are nice Buddhist representations of the Buddha and Guyanin the female Goddess with cloth over her head. :)

Yes, the first one is a Buddha in meditation, the second one a Guanyin.
Guanyin is the Chinese version of Avalokiteshvara, the Boddhisattva (aspect of the Buddha) of mercy, often depicted as feminine though originally masculine. In popular tradition Guanyin has also merged with a Chinese pre-Buddhist Goddess, and because of that is often called the Chinese Goddess of mercy.
The bronze is cast in a clay mold and with a clay core, the lost wax technique. A wax model was made around a core and covered with clay. The wax was heated and drained, and molten bronze poured in. After cooling, the clay was removed. In some cases the core isn't removed, that is what you see in the Buddha.
The Guanyin has a closed, crimped base and could have a sacred object or text inside. If so, that means he/she was made for Buddhist use.
Both are seated on a traditional lotus throne, symbol of spiritual wisdom and purity.
The Guanyin has some nice rubbing on the lotus base and the feet, which was probably caused by touching during prayer, but both are likely to be 20th century.
