I am going treasure hunting tomorrow. I will try to get more pics up the end of the weekend. Thank you all for your help. My thought, too, was that these were restrung. They are very heavy.

The blue ends on the beads remind me of satin glass.

I wish more of those folks would come over here. I didn't get on with all of them (they thought I was a barbarian), but the knowledge base was phenomenal.

Now I'm off to see if I can find someone telling how they make those honeycomb ends.

I'd love to see some vintage jewelry using them.

    So far, only bead vendors.

This is from an ebay seller, it was the most I could find before I decided to move on (no idea if it's accurate, but it is vague about the "press" aspect): "Excellent quality beads are made by pressing the bead in a steel mold, coating with color, then grinding and polishing each facet to reveal the base."

You ARE a barbarian, but that's OK. I'm a jewelry hoarder, so I qualify as a dragon and can't talk about anyone else! The joolies are still fooled into thinking I'm civilized, dunno how that happened.

But I'm a charming barbarian. They never got that. :joyful:

Meh, I came off the Ebay boards in part because of some seriously poisonous people on the Jools one. None of them are here, though.

There's a woman over on Facebook who lives in what was Bohemia, and really knows her beads. I'll ask her on the technique, she makes as well as sells.
