Ugly Terracotta Bowl- Hobbyist or Something Else?

    I've had this piece for several years. It's pretty ugly but it was one of my $1 finds that I couldn't pass up, lol. I have no info. on it and haven't seen anything in this shape before. It's not glazed on the inside, only around the flared part at the top of the rim about an inch. It sits 5.5" tall, has a 4" top opening and is about 6" at the wide center part. What do you think?

    Id guess Mexican. I dont think its ugly,I like the handles.

    The reason I bought it was because of the handles and the weird drip glaze pattern. I have yet to find anything close.
