It was drilled before it was soldered to the front piece.

 

I know that. I was referring to your original comment that implied it should be from the inside. The nail punches would have been before it was soldered as well.

 

I have more questions. Looking at the Etsy link @DragonflyWink posted because I am trying to learn....

I see raised bumps off the woman's face. Are these the soldering or casting bubbles?
I researched this some days back and saw many posts about this on coins, and they looked like this (at least to me). They seem uncharacteristic on this piece.

Also there are pot marks on the woman's and above her shoulder near the edge.
Last, on the 7th picture down the view from the side (the pic before the magazine) there looks to be soldering issues or no?

On the back on the logo the bottom of the E in Sterling is rubbed of as it is on my piece and some others I've seen. I'm not sure if that's a sign of anything.

I am trying to learn so if anyone can tell me if these things are what I'm seeing I'd be grateful?
