Img_1592.jpg Img_1594.jpg Img_1600.jpg Img_1611.jpg Img_1616.jpg Hi, this chair was left to me by my wealthy uncle. He was a teacher at Berkeley collage.
I dont know anything about the chair. I do remember being at his house, Maybe 25 year ago.He had just got the chair back for an unknown museum, which he had lent out for display.. He told me it was very valuable..I said how valuable? He replied, I was offered $25 thousand for it. ....(this is 25 years ago) He told me if I end up with it, Do not give it away or sell cheap..there are no marking on it..
anyone have a clue as to what it is. I think he also said Queen Ann..thanks

It's worth enough that the major auction houses might be interested.

Yes, agree with above. Sell it through a major auction house or -- if you're feeling generous -- donate it to a museum with a decorative arts collection.

Great that some relative's furniture story turns out to be true! Iconic art nouveau chair! Do let us know what happens as you decide what to do with this.

Makes me think of an irreverant T-shirt idea-:)

On the front: My uncle passed away and all he left me was this old chair (with a picture of the chair)

On the back: and it was worth $25K!!!! Thanks, Unc!

Might want to try Macklowe Gallery in NYC. They specialize in Art Nouveau furniture.

His whole house was a museum. This chair was nothing compared to his other stuff he had. He got dementia and would not allow us to take care of him..One day the floor heater caught fire and the house burned down. he survived it . Everything was destroyed . Somehow this chair survived.
Machlowe Gallery I will look into them.. Its not in France too.
