Featured Unknown pottery jug

    This little jug is signed but I can not make it out. Any help?

    The center of the signature is just as illegible as it appears in this picture. Looks like it might have been rubbed off prior to firing.

    The first word looks like Howard to me, but I couldn't get any hits.

    One thing you need to take into account is that it looks like "Hand arbeit" split into 2 lines.

    Think it is hand-arbeit. Would this be contemporary Westerwald?

    Deffo handarbeit, and I'd agree from somewhere like Westerwald or Luxembourg.

    My mother bought a similar jug in the late 70s, and yes, it is contemporary Westerwald. She bought it there too.

    We found this in our cold air return of a house in San Jose, CA built in 1939. Is it a tourist piece from the 60's or an antiquity?
