OP had found a picture of an identical one that was polished and superbly photographed and used it at first. His item in the second picture needs a little polish and a little light and you will like it just as well! :)

Looking closely I can see where detail has been lost due to aggressive polishing techniques so please be gentle when polishing.

The first one has a thin round piece supported by a piece going down to each foot coming up underneath. My first thought was to hold something to aid in warming it perhaps. That is the only difference I see besides OP's has been polished and cleaned a bit much at some point. I believe this piece is like an engraved silver pocket watch case and something is added at the time they were made that blackens or "antiques" the engraved detail to highlight the design. Carefully polished and cleaned this remains to beautify the object. On OP's it has been cleaned with something that has removed this. When it is polished it will be very silver without the original antiquing to highlight the details.

The angles from which each picture was taken appear to be slightly different - both horizontally and vertically. But it also appears that they may be different sizes of the same thing, hard to judge without something for reference in each picture. Of course that could also be a result of different angles of view or different distances from the lens.

Up the side of the spout on the first one there is engraving albeit a bit worn but it looks to be polished away on the second one for an example of some the detail possibly lost to polishing..

We got our kettle polished and it improved it's stature quite a bit.
