It gets better. They were stretchy & I kept tearing them so they wouldn't stay on anymore.

My sister and I were visiting Ireland... now I have have been an avid fan of British TV for 30+ years, my sister has never watch it. So when we were driving to our rental cottage, saw a sign that said "Off Licence" and took a screaming turn into the parking lot, my sister said "What the hell is an Off Licence?"

When I told her it's British for liquor store she got it :)

Marie: There's just something a tad not legal* about the tern "Off Licence." Gives it a bit of spice!

    (Not illegal, just not...quite...legal)

I've heard it in British shows & my American interpretation has been that it is a place that sell liquor after hours. Can we get a native speaker to help us out?

Thats stove and fridge are EVERYTHING ! Of course all the glass is lovely (and overwhelming!) due to the sheer volume Im not so sure an auction wouldnt bring her the most money.

Not a native speaker, but I'll help anyway, because I have a question I forget to ask every time I'm in England. One can only Buy one's liquor in a off license; one must go out (off the premises) of the store to drink one's wine, whisky, whatever. My question is: our liquor stores frequently have wine tastings. Is there a waiver in Britain for this sort of thing??

Is the deal you can drink in a pub but not take alcoholic beverages off the premises while at an off license you can purchase liquor but not drink it there? I know some states have/had 'package stores' that are something like this.

Trust a country where public schools are not open to the public to name the one legal place for buying booze the 'off license'.

As I understand, you buy liquor that can only be consumed "off the premises" as opposed to a bar or public house which is licensed for consumption at the point of sale (on-licence).

Getting ready to go pick up some more right now. Besides her house which is packed she also has 2 storage's. That's what I am working on right now one of the storage units. Which also has spinning wheels in it. Just what ever she liked she bought. I am going to put some of the better pieces online and have an estate sale for a bunch of it also.
