I’m currently researching a rather unique late 19th-century pendant made in Vienna by the renowned firm C.F. What makes it stand out is the addition of a star-shaped element attached to the top of the cross – not something I’ve commonly seen. The piece seems too elaborate for simple devotional wear and might be associated with an order of merit, a religious office, or perhaps a noble or ceremonial function (possibly even a female order like the Order of the Star Cross?). I’d love to hear your thoughts if anyone has come across similar items or symbolic combinations (cross + star) in either ecclesiastical or secular contexts. It’s currently listed in an Austrian auction house (Dorotheum), and you can see here: https://www.dorotheum.com/en/l/9548036/ Any thoughts, ideas, or references are welcome!
