hi all I love furniture and have recently got into buying old pieces from selling sites.
I recently bought this unusual chair and when I took it to be upholstered they told me to research the any information about the chair and possibly leave it.
I can’t find any information about the style so thought I’d ask on here.
    Any information is Greatly appreciated.
The carved detail is only on one side as if the chair should be displayed side on.

Hello, Carly. The people who actually know something about furniture will be along. Meanwhile, my first (uneducated) thought was French Empire for style. Think the carved side is actually the front, & you were meant to drape yourself languidly to the side. Sort of a chaise, except not longue, courte. (I'm making this bit up.) If you do a search for 'French empire chaise', you will see pieces that are similar in feeling.

Welcome, Carly! Love the chair. Just to make sure we understand, when you said the upholstery people said to "possibly leave it," did they mean to not change it from its current finish?

Carly, it looks like it might be what is sometimes called a "slipper" chair. ;)

I'm just curious . . . how high is the seat cushion from the floor?

    Hi,
Methinks it had an ottoman at the bottom so it could line up with a wall that is why it was decorated on only one side. I can see my lady sitting down with her feet up just resting or recovering from the "vapors".

I don't really know either but i think it's related to smelling salts.

Ahhhhh Haaaaaaaaa, 35cm huh, that translates to me that this chair is not American, it would have been helpful to know that.
