Hello, wondered if anyone had any ideas about this rather curious cup. It is silver plated and is marked 'Wolff Prateado' - I understand prateado is Portuguese for silver plated. The cup has two handles sticking out at right angles near the top of the cup. They run in a straight line, so from the side look like a spike sticking through the cup. One has a flared end, the other a pointed end. The handles are very strange. Does anyone have any idea what it is for?
    Thanks

The handles are are strange, almost looks like an arrow.
Two possibilities popped into my head, maybe a brandy warmer, with the handles to extend over the glass or bowl, or maybe a very deep wine tasting cup.

Is it perhaps a liquor measure? It sits over the glass, you pour a certain amount of liquor into it, then tip it into the glass.

    Sort of like this:

My first thought was that it was supported by something & could then tip contents in, so this looks like a really good prospect. CITA, what are the dimensions?

I agree - I have a few of them hanging around from the 50s-70s. Used to call it a "tipping pony" because it holds a "pony" (ounce) of liquor.

Hello, sorry for delay - been away for a few days. The cup measures 1.75" tall, by 5" across the handles. I like the sound of a tipping pony. Never heard of one before but the dimensions are perhaps about right. I'll do a bit of research and see what I can find.

Also called a tipping jigger. I have one identical to the OP's that is only marked Wolff.
