thanks Aj, enough info for me to pass, the lot went up to about £45, so far more than i was willing to pay

the prices have gone crazy recently as they have opened up to posting items anywhere in the uk

only managed to win one lot for £7 as the little japanese thingy in the middle looked interesting, not entirely sure what it is though, or if its old

It certainly is.:) You did very well.
Yes, it is old, it is a 19th century Japanese censer, and they go for very nice money.

The inlaid stone box is Agra ware, from India.
The stone pepper(?) could be agate.

    yeah i thought onyx/agate

don't the abalone look a bit odd shaped for shells, i guess they gotta be, but they look almost solid lumps

Onyx is black. There is travertine, which the Mexicans call onyx, but this one looks like agate to me.
I thought the same. Could they be glass?
    Yes, a wooden thingie.;)

The agate lump is a banana, btw. The lumps in the front look like glass, but may be ceramic. The flat one looks like a paperweight. The cloisonne egg (?) isn't to be sneezed at either; they're easy to resell or gift if nothing else. The censer blew right past everyone; they were all bidding on the banana!

Yes, an egg, one of those standard Chinese cloisonné items. Lovely, but they don't go for much here. Maybe it is better in the UK.
Maybe a lady's finger banana, because it is quite short.
They probably thought it was a miniature flower frog.:D

Oddly, I just watched a Youtuber (Commonwealth Flipper is one of his channels) buy a whole collection of flower frogs. His were all the steel spikes, but people want them.

they made me think of a salt and pepper set I had from New Zealand - similar set to this one on Worthpoint

must be a reflection, but it almost looks like a face in the paperweight - or maybe I just have a wild imagination:)
