Hello everyone - for someone trying to cut back on merchandise I should probably stay away from these large items, but in case you guys haven't figured it out yet impulse control is not my strong suit. Anyway it's 17" high and about 10" across the base.
There are a couple of chips on the base that show through to white clay. Anybody recognize her? Thanks for whatever leads you can provide.

It's patterned after The Goose Girl - a Brothers Grimm tale, but you probably already knew that.
It vaguely reminds me a California piece, but I can't think what company.

Hi Messilane - thank you for your response. I'm not familiar with the Goose Girl tale - I'll have too look it up! California would make some sense. At the same auction I picked up pieces by Heidi Schoop, Kim Ward, Kaye of Hollywood, and a lot of miniatures by California potteries that I'm still sorting through. The colors on this planter is part of what's throwing me. I don't remember many California potters that used this palette.

I don't think this is a company piece.
I think this was a mold painted by a hobbiest painter.

Forgot to say - probably late 1930s -40s

I might agree, if it were not for the bottom.

I see it listed in a couple of places as Haeger, and if I can get up out of this recliner, I will look in a book.

What do you know--she's on p. 76 of The House of Haeger 1944-1969, in the 1950s section, called 3670 Peasant Girl in gloss white/fern green. It also came in gloss white/mint green. It says 17 1/2".

Thank you, janetjohn! I appreciate your looking in your book for me. The House of Haeger books are missing from my library.

They are pretty books but haven't been useful until now.

I just purchase one in perfect condition at a thrift store. Because of the condition, I was afraid it wasn't the real thing, however, it's palette is exactly the same as they pictures you posted. Thank all of you who contributed insight into the origin of this piece. I would have had to look a long time before I got to a House of Haeger reference.
