Victorian Tin Hat Box Or For Cooking?

Discussion in 'Metalware' started by Anthony Cultreri, Feb 23, 2021.

  1. Hi, and thanks for your info! This is an estate sale find. I always buy things if I’ve never seen one before, lol. It is branded “Besse” and it measures approx. 8 3/4” long x 5 3/4” wide x 3 3/4” tall. There is a small handle present. I thought it was a hat box, but when I got it home and opened the tight press-on lid, there was old “schmutz” inside, like old grease from cooking. Thanks again for your time and help! rka4t3bsS6GGr8%zXKCjrw_thumb_addc.jpg GVl5xn5KRTi9jOu2LfXcBQ_thumb_addd.jpg J9NmuREfQiSjgiB%EMcdgQ_thumb_ade2.jpg +%ZG6nnnRNe1GEfLsLtrNQ_thumb_ade0.jpg A%0hNi6uSru26gj6zX5iWQ_thumb_addf.jpg

The rounded one is definitely a food mold. For aspic or other " jelly" or similar foods that need to set.
