    They are the best for wall paper, I wanted to get some of their Victorian Persian but the cost with shipping is not worth it. I cannot find any other company as good. Bradbury do all the movies sets and high end contracts.

    Checking online, I guess that story's apocryphal, but it's a good one. Years and years ago I heard it. The crates carrying the antiquities were supposedly stenciled "de Lux."

    Thank you for that bit of US design history, we never had Hollywood Regency here in Europe. I first read about it when I joined Antiquers.
    It is sad that the times were such that Haines was fired for staying true to the love of his life. Having a greater influence on Hollywood through design, than he ever would have had through acting, must have felt like sweet revenge.;)

    We did have the 1960s Egyptian Revival in jewellery, mostly through the main German, French and Italian jewellery makers.

    I am an agnatologist when it comes to Jewelry, I do have an interest in Celtic inconography and Celtic Jewelry.


    I think Weezer did a song about MGM and Tinsel town.

    Google: William Morris Arts Crafts. Arts and Crafts appeared around 1860 and was concurrent with the Aesthetic Movement in the 1880s...from what I've read.
