Featured Vintage Button Identity

I recently purchased this button and can't find it anywhere online. It measures about 3 1/2" in diameter. Not sure if this is the correct category to post this but it is advertising of sorts, thought possibly Art Category too. Does anyone know what event this button may have been related to or anything else about it? Thanks in advance for all replies and answers.

 

Is there a west Philly that isn't west Philadelphia?

 

Maybe for a rodeo or western-themed show of some kind?

If somebody has access to local newspapers near that date, maybe they could find advertising for it.

 

That's a puzzler. Not too many rodeo events in West Philly, I would imagine, even in 1964. I know there was a movie called Concrete Cowboy made about the Fletcher Street Riding Stables but that was North Philly, I think, and was more of a ragtag group of riders. Edited to add: I do see some references to the stables being in West Philadelphia, I think all those riders were black men so not sure the button would be representative of their group.

Cool button though. I'm from the area and I'll try to think of a possible background on it.

Thanks for the input and info everyone! Nice to have someone from that area look into the button, thanks tie.dye.cat. Debora, there is nothing on the back but on the side of the button it says "PHILA BADGE CO. INC. PHILA. PA.". I will include some more images below.

 

You might want to include "pin" in your title if you list it as many people would first call it a pin.

There has been a West Philadelphia High School for over 100 years. Perhaps related to a year-end event or graduation in 1964?
