Featured Vintage cross, would you call this filigree?

It appears to be silver over brass. (Case not original to piece.) Would you call this filigree? I need a few keywords for this piece or if anyone can guess country of origin. Thanks!

It's an ankh, rather than a cross. Yes to filigree.

 

Possibly really is Egyptian, but anywhere in the Mediterranean is a possibility. It could be silver over copper.

The odd thing is that a flower is placed where it would be on a Christian cross. Maybe something to look into (for a future owner? ).

Those large scroll structures in the filigree are seen in Egyptian jewellery, but also from Turkey into the Caucasian countries and some parts of Central Asia.
My guess is either Egypt or Turkey.

 

I'd give it a nice vinegar bath.

 

A Coptic ankh. Originally the Egyptian symbol for "life", it was adopted by the Copts (Egyptian Christians). Also called a crux ansata, meaning "cross with a handle."

Well spotted, the loop is circular, so Coptic it is, hence the flower. I was focusing on the technique.

 

Can't see anything at this point, except maybe something incised. But if so, it is very deteriorated.
