Before we purchase it we would like to learn more about it. Story, value, rarity, etc.... hoping someone out there has some info.

In this case, "lounge" means "bar." And "contract furniture" is explained in the link above.

Could be completely off base, but wonder if this was always two colors, the black and red. I kind of like the two colors personally, but this design seems a tiny bit unusual for 1960s. If you are really concerned about value, rarity, etc., you might want to see if two-tone was original to the chair, or whether it was reupholstered. I am not familiar with this particular chair or company, could be this was perfectly original, but the two I see in a quick search on Google have the same colors top and bottom.

This one is sold, but they do list the Etsy seller. I suppose you could write them and ask what it sold for. You'd at least get a price point if they responded.

    Awesome chair!

Why do you think this is a 60's chair, Lucille? I would think more recent, but not because of the color combo. Can't you just see this in a casino lounge?

I was told by the owner this chair was in the Playboy Club during the 60’s. No proof just going off what he said.

    Good job, Bakers and INH!

The two on Google I found said 60's. 60's seems possible, at least.

And Casino makes sense for the two colors.

Same basic chair, but on wheels instead of plain legs and a different back.

All looks right for 1960s to me -- design, label font, colorway. Very cocktail lounge.

Contract furniture is usually well made but not necessarily by well known designers (There are of course exceptions). They were also usually made in large quantities. Consequently, values tend not to be terribly high.

I could definitely see this chair in a Dean Martin movie. Brad is right about value; this furniture is a great way to get a funky look without spending much money. And this one looks to be in much better shape than most considering age.

Well heard back from the Gasser Chair Co. and they were very helpful!!! They sent me paperwork from their catalogs 60’s & 70’s. This chair was very popular in the 60’s when this style was released but I guess the bad news is they still produce this style it’s just not as popular as back in the 60’s. Glad I found out all this info.
Again thank you to everyone, I collect a little of everything so I will definitely be using this forum a lot.
