Had this press photo for years, always thought he was holding a radio antenna?
Is that it y'think?
oops forgot the pic - DUH
My little chickadee
He has a "children of the corn" look in that photograph.
Very possibly, even likely, that's a big antenna, yes. We suspect he's DX'ing. Actually, looks kinda like the UHF antenna on our old TV here...
Oh, by the way, those are the kids from the quite good Village of the Damned, not the much more violent yet less interesting Children of the Corn.
Thanks for the correction. I never watched either of those movies but remembered the image and the wrong title. When I Googled "Children Of The Corn" that was one of the images that came up.
Easy mistake if you're not into horror movies... they're both cultish groups of kids, they're very dangerous, they're rather thin, they're quite pale, and they're mostly very blonde. Difference is the Village of the Damned kids are nattily dressed, super intelligent, and telepathic / telekinetic, while the Children of the Corn are scruffy, kinda stupid, and mostly use scythes and machetes.
When we moved to our current location about 25 years ago, we immediately noticed an unnatural proportion of the school-age kids in town were thin, very pale, and had white-blond hair. Any frequent sighting of kids of that description of course prompted mention that we'd moved into the Village of the Damned or were surrounded by the Children of the Corn...
I saw bits and pieces of both of those wacky kids with blonde hair movies as I watch some scary stuff from time to time.
I think that thing is supposed to "look like" a radio antenna, but it can't be real. Not to mention that the wires go straight from the "antenna" to the earphones - and they don't work that way (unless there's a big old receiver below the bottom of the image.)
Do you happen to know what the item he is holding in the photo was supposed to be?
