Wacky Victorian teapot with a tin lid – who registered Rd No. 285771?

Know from the Rd number it dates from around 1896/7 but no makers mark
that I can see. The tin lid might be a bit dodgy as while it fits ok it doesn't match
the lid hole shape. Can anyone ID the maker???

    Cheers

The painting on the lid is also very different. I think the original broke a long time ago. But a nice replacement for 19th century household use, it goes with the general look.
I love the pot, it appeals to my kitschy side. Love the Indian transfer, probably based on a popular print.
There seem to be three registration numbers, one for the shape.

Wow! Fabulous! I can't help since have never seen one like it. That is just so kinky ... Have you tried dragging the photo into Google Images and seeing what that turns up?

Brilliant idea. Got this one http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O77904/teapot-burgess-leigh/

Looks like Burgess and Leigh from Burslem and yep the tin top is wrong.

It's sort of shaped like Australia, so well at home. :)

How cool is that? One just like it in the V&A, and on display. Love the pot. Time for tea. :joyful:

Ignored as usual, unless they made it into the long-lost creamer.
