    Looks like a commercial illustration to me. I like all the detail, it is very well done.

    I've been around, I still lurk here but not nearly as much/often. Spending a lot more time on other endeavors lately.

    You keep finding eye catchers for sure...keep it up!

    Here is a 1931 photograph taken of the clock tower at a somewhat similar angle. The listing at the link below says the water is the mouth of a river. The land immediately surrounding the tower in the painting seems to be more rural... romanticized, as debora mentioned.
