I recently purchased a painting on silk from a storage unit. Possibly wax painting on silk. It has some language on the back I don't recognize. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! Trina 20150719_160045.jpg 20150719_160055.jpg

Trina-the characters are Cyrillic And given the scene showing an onion-domed church, the item comes from one of the countries of the "former Soviet Union" such as Russia. I'd guess the item was made in about 1990 or later, certainly after The Wall came down. Scene may be Kizhi Island.

This may not be totally correct, but the term that *may* apply to this is "wax resist."

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The first word means "Evening" and is probably the title of the picture. The next part is, I think, the artist's name: Залесский В. С would be V. S. Zalesskii. I did a little looking using the Cyrillic characters and didn't find an artist that I could identify with that name.

Thank you! That's the name I came up with as well.
