    39 is normally a European size equivalent to U.S. 8 1/2.

Could they be big enough to be a women's 8 1/2?

Does look like something is missing, sole insert? Not sure.

the thin sole and poor quality ...looks like some summer shoe made by a trades person for tourist sale....... not an antique !

They look brand new as in never worn, not as in made today.
Do you have the original box?

Sorry, nope... as former owner of a bowling center, it's just the opposite, bowling shoes must slide. At least for traditional ten pin bowling.

(Edited to add: bottoms on bowling shoes are leather or have leather patch)

It's so rare that my bowling history is ever useful. :woot:

JMHO. semi-ware. missing a piece in another color or missing shaft for half-boots.

    Obviously, I'm not a bowler.

Still, I think they had a purpose.
They don't look like every day walking shoes.

I agree... but the only thing I can think of is doll cosplay and I'm not sure that was a "thing" (at least not a public thing, lol) when these were made.

    Tricia is in the UK I believe. 39 is roughly a 6 to 6 1/2 UK. I take a 37.5 which is a 4 1/2.

I think those are an overshoe.

    And I’m a 40 and wear a U.K. 7.5

Does the back fold in and down? Almost looks like some kind of babouche. Unusual shoe IMO
