I should expand on the relevance of my photo to OP's. This is my grandmother (front right) with her 6 much older sisters. Their little brother is front & center, flanked by their parents. The family member my grandmother was closest to was the daughter of her oldest sister; her niece was more nearly her own age than her sisters were. This was probably taken 1906 - 1910.
