The inkwells are heavy and appear to be crystal (although I could be wrong about this). I think it may also be missing a larger wooden base. The &quot;ground&quot; on which the inkwells stand used to be a yellow or gold velvet-like fabric, but it&#039;s not very, very faded and thread bare. The person I bought it from in the U.S. says it was acquired in the 1970s in Australia.</p><p><br /></p><p>There are no marks anywhere on the piece or the inkwells that I can find.
